Question : Double click a drive or folder opens the Properties dialog instead of the normal Open behavior


1)I suspect this issue may be also related to the mouse settings. Please go to “Control Panel\Hardware and Sound” and click “Mouse” and check your mouse settings; please ensure that the left button is set to “Click” and right button is “Right-click”.

You may also click the Restore Defaults to reset the mouse settings.

If you use some other application to manage the mouse, please also check the settings or just remove it.

2)OK so I went into control panel \ default programs \ set programs access and computer defaults...then I chose custom checked everything and hit ok. Everything is back to normal now. this was the only program I could access.

3)-edit- I forgot to add that clicking my computer icon from desktop opens the control panel \ system and security \ system

4) I had a similar problem recently, there is a mouse/keyboard reset command. All you have to do is press and hold Left Shift + Left Ctrl + Left Alt and Right Shift + Right Ctrl + Right Alt.

5)I think your ALT key maybe stuck. To confirm this Click the Start menu, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to Accessibility,
and then click On-Screen Keyboard to open On-Screen Keyboard. If ALT is white, Windows is detecting the ALT key as being active.
